Pickin’ Productions…

was founded in 2000 by Rob Miller with the vision of bringing high quality live music to Western Colorado. Since that time, Pickin’ has produced hundreds of concerts at many venues, festivals, and events around the state.

A little history. Pickin's first Colorado concert was in Paonia at the Blue Sage with Yonder Mountain String Band in 2000, followed by many memorable concerts at Paonia's Paradise Theater since 2001. In 2008, two free, beloved Western CO summer concert series were launched - Paonia’s Pickin' in the Park, and the Ridgway Concert Series. Pickin' helped start the Mountain Air Music Series in Ouray, CO and continues to work closely with the Free Summer Concert Series in Moab, UT (with Moab Folk Festival). Pickin’ also produces successful shows for Big B’s Delicious Orchards, Paonia (since 2019), The Public House in Crested Butte, and Paonia’s Mountain Harvest Festival (since 2022). As of 2025, Pickin’ now books the music at Ridgway’s Sherbino Theater.

Outreach. Working closely with local non-profits has always been a focus of Pickin' Productions. Included are NFVCC (collaborator on Pickin’ in the Park and Mountain Harvest Festival), KVNF Public Radio, Western Slope Conservation Center, Arts 4 All, Music in Communities, Paonia Public Library, Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans, Paonia Elementary School, North Fork Montessori School, and others.

Founder. Originally from New York, Rob has called the town of Paonia, CO home since 1999. As owner and talent buyer for Pickin’ Productions, he has pioneered a vibrant and diverse music scene on the Rocky Mountain’s Western Slope for close to three decades. Rob worked for many years as a booking agent with Quicksilver Productions, representing a national and international roster, and was a founding member of the old-time band, Sweet Sunny South. Rob's joys are his two daughters, Sadie and Kayla, and he can still be seen out occasionally with guitar in hand.
