Pickin’ Productions…

was founded in 2000 by Rob Miller with the vision of bringing high quality live music to Western Colorado. Since that time, Pickin’ has produced hundreds of concerts at many venues, festivals, and events around the state.

A little history. Pickin's first Colorado concert was with Yonder Mountain String Band in 2000, followed by the launch of two free summer concert series in the Western Colorado towns of Paonia and Ridgway (Pickin' in the Park and the Ridgway Concert Series), both of which are approaching two-decades running. Pickin' helped start the Mountain Air Music Series in Ouray, CO and the Free Summer Concert Series in Moab, Utah (in collaboration with the Moab Folk Festival), and booked two seasons at the historic Tabor Opera House (Leadville, CO). In addition to our highly popular series, Pickin' now produces successful shows for Big B’s Delicious Orchards (Paonia), The Public House (Crested Butte) and Bluecorn Cafe (Montrose, CO).  In 2023, we began working with the City of Delta, CO with shows at Cleland Park and a bluegrass series at Fort Uncompahgre.

Outreach. Working closely with local non-profits to support the good work they are doing in our communities has always been a focus of Pickin' Productions. These include KVNF Public Radio, North Fork Valley Creative Coalition, Western Slope Environmental Resource Council (now the Western Slope Conservation Center), Paonia Public Library, Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans, Paonia Elementary School, North Fork Montessori School, and others.

Founder. Originally from New York, Rob has called Colorado's North Fork Valley and town of Paonia, Colorado home since 1999. As owner and talent buyer for Pickin’ Productions, he has pioneered a vibrant and diverse music scene on the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains for over two decades. Pickin' promotes several free and beloved community concert series, in addition to well-curated shows at popular venues from Colorado to Utah. Rob worked for many years as a booking agent with Quicksilver Productions, representing national and international bands, and was a founding member of the old-time band, Sweet Sunny South. Rob's joys are his two daughters, Sadie and Kayla, and he still plays lots of music himself. He can be seen out occasionally with guitar in hand alongside Erika Moss performing as the band, Ford & Fitzroy
